There are a few things you can do to make more memories for your special day! Here are just a few:
1: Invite the President and First Lady to Your Wedding!
Yes, you can invite the President and First Lady of the United States to your wedding! Of course, it's highly unlikely that they would actually be able to make it (their schedules are quite full), but you may receive a personalized letter from them! You can invite them by sending an invitation to (we'll use Donald Trump as an example):
The Honorable President and Mrs. Trump
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave
Washington, DC 20500
2: Invite Mickey and Minnie to Your Wedding!
Wouldn't you love to have an beloved iconic character from your childhood be one of your honored guests? Well - as with the President, I'm sure Mickey and Minnie have a very busy schedule, but it never hurts to ask! They may even be a little more responsive than our Commander-in-chief! Send your invitation to:
Mickey and Minnie Mouse The Magic Kingdom 1675 N Buena Vista Drive Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
3: (Keeping the Disney Theme Going) Invite Cinderella and Prince Charming to Your Wedding!
Are you planning to have that true "Fairy Tail Wedding"? What would be more fitting than to have Cinderella and Prince Charming show up to share your special day? Ok, so they probably won't actually make an appearance, but you may receive something special in response to sending your invitation to:
Cinderella and Prince Charming P.O. Box 1000 Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830
4: Get the Pope Involved!
If you prefer something a little more "Papal" to make your wedding day memorable, you can always invite the Pope! If you plan to do this though, make sure you get that invitation out early... Sometimes the response can take a while (mailing overseas, etc.). Send your invitation to:
His Holiness Pope Francis 00120 Via del Pellegrino Citta del Vaticano
5: Pump Up the Jam for Introductions!
Add a little bit of spice when you are announced into the reception! Choose a special song that can get the audience involved - or something that is upbeat but reflects certain aspects of your life or your relationship with your partner! You can do the same for your bridal party - some even choose an individual song for each couple. It's fun to find songs that fit the characters involved in the event!
6: Make a Special Plan for Your Younger Guests!
Weddings are mostly no fun for kids (at least until the dancing starts). Some couples set minimum ages for kids at their weddings, but if you do plan to have kids in attendance, make sure you plan some activities for them. Here are some ideas: Set up a separate room - perhaps with a "babysitter" and TV (or iPad) for the kids to watch movies; For younger kids, provide coloring books and crayons; If younger teens are going to be more prevalent in your guest list, add a photo-booth (even if it's just a dedicated area with a backdrop and a bunch of props) where they can take selfies!
7: For Those Who Are Tech Savvy:
The modern day version of the disposable camera combined with a "slideshow"! Come up with a unique hashtag for your wedding. Have your guests take candid photos of the event throughout the evening (ceremony and/or reception). Ask your guests to post those pics (or videos) to Twitter using your hashtag. Then - in the reception area, you can have a projector, screen and laptop setup using a web site such as www.SwanScreen.com. You can show those pics IN REAL TIME as your guests post them!
8: Party Favors Can Breathe Life Into Your Wedding Reception!
Party favors and props can be a lot of fun! Visit the Oriental Trading Company, or go to your local party store and pick up some "mustaches on a stick" or "tiaras on a stick" - or (and maybe more fun), print out pictures of yourselves and glue them to tongue depressors (pick them up at your local arts and crafts store). Other props such as sunglasses, inflatable guitars, keyboards, etc. also make great options for item #7 (above)!
9: "DIY" Food Stations Let Your Guests Show Their Creativity!
Let your guests show off their creativity and experiment a little with a do-it-yourself grilled cheese sandwich bar! Add different types of cheeses and breads, jalapeno pepper slices, lunch meat (on ice, of course), etc. Or - go the desert route with an ice cream sunday bar! You could even do a "pizza bar" - with different types of pizzas. Is there a special traditional food that your family typically has at weddings? Build on that and add a twist here and there - have fun with it!
10: Plan a Surprise!
It's always fun to surprise the guests with something special at your wedding! Belly dancers, mariachi bands, even local celebrities can make surprise appearances at your event! The trick is to keep it quiet! This is something the couple should work out and keep completely to themselves - it should even be a surprise to the bridal party!
These are just a few of the thousands (or millions!) of ways you can add some fun to your event. Don't be afraid to get creative with your plans! Try not to over-complicate anything - keep it simple and keep it fun - Good Luck!
